Thanks Alpha, I appreciate the heads up.

I will deal with a few issues to try to figure out what I'm doing and make a move later this week!

I don't think it matters if you skip a couple of days. I was away at the weekend and when I got back nothing "bad" had happened - I just had three issues waiting for me, which I answered all at once.

If you're away for a long period, there's an option you can set to freeze your nation so nothing happens to it until you get back. I forget where the option is but you should see it if you hunt around on the site.

 The Democratic Republic of Linddera
"Lets all make lots of money and be jolly and friendly"

UN Category: Left-wing Utopia
Civil Rights:
Excellent Economy:
Reasonable Political Freedoms:
Superb

Location: the South Pacific
The Democratic Republic of Linddera is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5 million are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 27%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Woodchip Exports industry, followed by Book Publishing and Door-to-door Insurance Sales.

Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Linddera's national animal is the cow and its currency is the hokes.

Thank you emoticon

Linddera has now "progressed" into a Scandinavian Liberal Paradise state and has excellent civil rights, political freedoms and a reasonable economy. So far so good!

However..I have recieved this disturbing telegram ..

Hello, fellow nation. I offer you the chance to join my fellow nations and I in the ranks of region crashers. We come from the region “Dominion of the Relentless”. We are looking for new people, and your nation is particularly appealing to us. I hope that you will consider my offer. If you join us, you can meet new people, see new sights, you name it. Also, it is a chance to gain power in Nations Sates fast, as we might need you to become a UN Delegate in a newly invaded region. All you need to do is endorse the current UN Delegate when you come into our region. I hope to receive a response within a few days.

I've seen similar things. It's an odd concept - by shifting to key regions at key times, this group can ensure that their "own" people become UN delegates for those regions, thus giving them block voting power at the UN.

As far as I can tell, this is legal within the rules of the game.

I really don't know what to make of it. On one hand, it's an underhand way of bucking the system... on the other hand, it's an extremely clever political tactic... emoticon

I'm trying to think of a real-world equivalent to it. I can't imagine any real democratic system would have such an obviously exploitable loophole.

I used to play this game ages ago, it gets boring after a few months, but I dunno, I might give it another shot.

Just created a new one :

 The Holy Empire of Marzipanlia
"The cake shall be covered in the glorious Marzipan"

UN Category: Democratic Socialists
Civil Rights:
Excellent Economy:
Reasonable Political Freedoms:
Below Average

Location: The North Pacific
The Holy Empire of Marzipanlia is a tiny, safe nation, remarkable for its devotion to social welfare. Its compassionate population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded morass -- is mainly concerned with Social Welfare, although Healthcare and Education are on the agenda. The average income tax rate is 40%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Beef-Based Agriculture.

Crime is well under control. Marzipanlia's national animal is the human, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the sugar.

I got one really early on, but nothing since then. It must be random, and if they are constantly adding to the issues you may be luckily enough to never get a repeat.

Actually, I'm starting to wonder where this game is going and what control I really have over its design.

My population is increasing at an unnatural rate, as is the average tax component. Despite a fairly 'green' approach to my environment, my country is "remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape".

Admittedly, I haven't read too deeply into the rules and the effects of legislation choices but, unless there is some real point to the game, I plan to sell out to the highest corporate bidder and retire to Monaco.

We're going to lose Maranis tomorrow. emoticon

I've heard from other members of Weltraum that they are getting disenchanted and think of letting it go. I don't blame them, a lot of issues are black and white and often have pointless results.

I'm going to hang in there a bit longer, though.

This is a fun experiment.

The Kingdom of Eriadhin
UN Category: Authoritarian Democracy
Civil Rights: Rare
Economy: Basket Case
Political Freedoms:Below Average

The Kingdom of Eriadhin is a small, devout nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate population of 18 million are prohibited from doing almost everything except voting, which they do timidly and conservatively.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, moralistic, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 53%, and even higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Cheese Exports industry, followed by Pizza Delivery and Arms Manufacturing.

The government is seen to favor Catholics, the wolf is a protected species, high-income earners pay a 100% tax rate, and it is a crime to offend someone's religious beliefs. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Eriadhin's national animal is the wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dhin.

Eriadhin is ranked 1st in the region and 58,562nd in the world for Highest Police Ratios.

Some of these questions give different results than one would expect.
*points to the favortism of Catholics and the crime of offending someone*
