Re: Eric Von Daniken
He might have some valid points in his research. I was watching a show awhile ago where he recreated an electical battery with things that would have been around in ancient times. He also showed an artifact of something similar in the form of a picture showing such a device. Both his recreation and the picture showed a simple electric light which suggests ancient people may have discovered electricity long before the first lighting system of modern times.
It is also noteworthy that legends of ancient people appear to be records of contact between ancient people and people who fell from the sky or stars. We can exam the stories of gods and goddesses, sky people, star clans, wee folk, fairies, giants, elves, trolls, angels, and other seemly mythical beings recorded in the legends of ancient people. Based on this evidence some people might draw a conclusion that these people experienced contact with off worldly beings.
Today's modern ufo sightings and reports are not much different from the stories recorded in ancient times. Fairy circles are very similar to descriptions of day modern crop circles. Angels falling from the sky are similar to some contactees stories with star beings. A pillar of fire by night and a cloud in the day was said to have lead the hebrew slaves out of ancient Egypt. Some people might interprete this description as a ancient ufo leading the way for these people. Some people today have recorded similar objects to these ancient descriptions.
Film or video recordings seem to draw a conclusion that we are not alone in this universe. Could others exist out there? Could contact with other worldly beings be something which has occured since ancient times? Could we be the decendants of some ancient star race?
In studying the works of Zedharia Sitchin and Eric Von Daniken, we can see some evidence to support extraterrestial interference in the creation of humans. Their work certainly raises questions which cause people to think and consider the possibilities beyond the divine creation and evolution theories which so predominates our ideas of human existence.
We can not prove divine creation, evolution, or ancient extraterrestrial interference in the creation of life. For now, all these points are theories until proven otherwise. Some people might disagree with me on that point. I challenge anyone to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that these are solid facts beyond questioning. All evidence to every theory is always subject to our interpretations and examinations of that evidence. The interpretations to many ideas are endless depending on how we chose to draw our conclusions of the evidence.
Why do we seek to explore the universe? What do we hope to find there? Could it be in our genetic code to seek the stars? Are we searching for our own origins? Why do we always wish upon a star? Why is heaven always seen as being in the stars? What drives humans to seek the stars? Why is the home of the divine creator or creators in the heavens?
Eric Von Daniken at least has the courage to explore this mystery and challenge the interpretation of archelogical evidence. His theories at least present humans with other thoughts to consider in our modern space exploration times.
