Re: Some Christians complain, but the government leaves Halloween alone
By true christians, I mean the ones who really study for themselves and don't just follow tradition or rely on the word of others. The ones that people like to call zealots because they are always so eager to share the truth. LOL
A true christian wouldn't want to take the chance in offending God, therefore when it came to certain celebrated days they would avoid it like the plague.
I would have to say that most followers of religion, whether it be christianity or not, don't know why they celebrate some of the things they do.
But If I'm to believe in the Bible as my source of truth, then there's nothing in there about putting a tree in my house in the winter, coloring eggs & eating chocolate bunnies in the spring and so on. The only place I can really control is my own home. I can't control what the world does and it's not my job to control it.
Yes, these holidays are ingrained into our culture, but it's up to each person to figure out if they should be celebrating them or not. So, my belief is, those so called christians who were complaining must have been in the group that just follows blindly the emotions of the majority. Not knowing that the very day they are fighting so hard to keep sacred has no scriptual basis for being kept as so.
--- I'm willing to move to another planet, just to get away from some family members.

Re: Some Christians complain, but the government leaves Halloween alone
Your post made me think of something, SL:
Many holidays ARE part of our society, and thus have little connection to the original festivities. Halloween is just another part of our culture, like the Fourth of July; that has no religious significance, and it's still on the American calendars. Or Columbus Day, which is now seen as simply another excuse for a three-day weekend, instead of an actual commemoration of the man who "discovered America" (if you ask me, he doesn't deserve it). I do not see why Christians feel so threatened by Halloween. It has no significance to them, so why bother griping about it?
--- There are things which Man can not understand. For everything else, there's a lie.
Let's see if we can't get to the truth of the matter, hmm?

That is very true! On the other hand, I see no actual need to transform every holiday into an ...errrmmm worshipping procedure. Come to think of it, all but the most "hardcore religious" holidays (whichever they might be), are meant mainly for fun, ain't they?
