I built my own computer. I call it Franken-byte emoticon

Started it 5 years ago, each year I just add something new, or replace something old. It is faster than my parents computer (and they just got theirs last year) emoticon

What amazes me is that most people don't do that. For instance, if you need more RAM, buy a stick of RAM, unplug the computer, open the bloody thing, and put the RAM in it. Not exactly nuclear physics... emoticon

Back to the topic...
My newest computer is an AMD ath64 based machine, and when it comes to operating systems, I use WinXP professional on one HDD, and Ubuntu (a Debian-based Linux) on the other. emoticon

I know. It is silly to go buying a new computer all the time. Half the time the only thing that has changed is the motherboard. They really aren't that hard to install. I've done 3 different motherboards in my current computer.

All you need is a largish computer case. Then you can fill it to your heart's content. You want a gaming computer, add a better graphics card. emoticon

And it is cheeper and less wasteful in the long run

My brother once broke the motherboard, and since I didn't feel like givin 150 Euros for a new one, I just soldered it back together. It had multiple layers, it was a nightmare, and it took me the whole day, but, strangely, it works still (children, do not try this at home).

Exactly, instead of paying 700-1000 Euros for a new computer every year or every other year, you can just occasionally buy a piece or two and always keep you computer fast and furious. emoticon

I can track people down using their IP, not their phone number.

i have a toshiba with "xp" media centre running it.

i have quoted "xp" cos it is supposed to be supa dupa

but you still get problems with it, all computers i use that have xp on them take longer to load and have more problems, window 200 seems to be the stringest structure it doesn't freeze as much and loads quicker

I'm really busy with school. So i'm unsure of when I'll be back to post...

If you find certain "features" of Microjunk Window$ irritating, such as instability, crashing, freezing, virus attacks or the need for frequent rebooting, use Linux (one of the good distros) and your problems will disappear. emoticon
