Yeah, right David, old meannie! emoticon back at you!!! Grrrrrr...

You don't deserve it -talking the way you do about my poor Herc- but hey, we have a forgiving heart, so, here is a link to explain why you thought the Hydra labor didn't count.
Good shot; (CB grumpily admits!) emoticon

Its not one of the best ones but it tells a good story. Just don't pay too much attention to the proper names (of cities, people ) used because they ..er.. kinda mush them/ kill them ... so to speak? emoticon

Hey, I missed this post ...it wasn't there when I posted mine ( right below it) ???..... Shoot; I must be getting old!emoticon

You are correct Firle and with your contribution we need only two more Labors!... emoticon

Hint. One has to do with an accessory of a (wild) female dress and the other with, yet another, wild animal (with four legs this time). emoticon

b) A mortal woman transformed into a Gorgon

although i thought she was some sort of goddess, or had a link to one, but was then turned into a gorgan,
i think she had 2 sisters and they were incredably beautifull, and a godess got jelouse and turned them into gorgans, or something like that...
if you looked at her you turned to stone, but she was eventually killed by some guy who used a mirror that was so shiny it was like a mirror,
ive heard to stories of her death, one where the guy used the mirror to look at her, since her reflection didnt do any harm, and then cut her head off using the mirror as a guid,
also another one is where he used the mirror to show her her own reflection, which turned her into stone, thus killing her.
also i heard one which is a mix, so i dunno which is right....

Well done GC... emoticon

Here is the story: ... Medusa was once a beautiful maiden whose hair was her chief glory, but as she dared to vie in beauty with Athena, the goddess deprived her of her charms and changed her beautiful ringlets into hissing serpents. She became a cruel monster of so frightening an aspect that no living thing could behold her without being turned into stone. Perseus, favored by Athena and Hermes, the former of whom lent him her shield and the latter his winged shoes, approached Medusa while she slept and taking care not to look directly at her but guided by her image reflected in the bright shield which he bore, he cut off her head and gave it to Athena, who fixed it in the middle of her Aegis (shield).

Thank you, David for answering the previous post. Yes, it would be nice if others posted similar questions. Provided we stay on the subject of Greek mythology, of course!

BTW: I appologise for my absence but it couldn't be helped....To make up for it here I go with another Q.

Who was Dionyssos?

God of the rivers?
God of wine and fun?
God of the forests?

Good luck.. emoticon

God of wine and fun. The only God (if I remember correctly) who lived more among the humans on earth than with the rest of the Gods. I think he was the son of Zeus, and there have been at least three legends as to who his mother was. Don't quote me on any of this, it's off the top of my head. But the human mother's name started with an A. His worship was the origination of Orgies. His counterpart was Bachus.

And I swear, I'd better not get one lousy comment on knowing about Dionysus. It just so happens I really, really loved the Pastorale scene in Fantasia as a child.

For those intereseted, Michael Moorcock's Chronicles of Corum is based on these myths. The second trilogy includes Medhbh as the love interest of the main character.
